Reviewing The Yamaha CL5 Digital Console

I write several articles for various sound audio websites, and I can honestly say that I have never used a mixing console as good at the new Yamaha CL5 digital console. I had the great privilege of using one of these sound mixers for a couple of weeks, courtesy of the fine folks at Yamaha. First of all, let me say that I have never purchased a piece of music equipment from Yamaha that has failed to deliver. Yamaha is at the cornerstone of the music industry. They don't disappoint here either with the quality and craftsmanship put into the new Yamaha CL5 digital console. The preamp technology creates a warm, crystal clear sound when using microphones or plugging instruments directly into the board. Everything you need is built into this console. You have on board equalizers, rack mount sound effects and 64 channels to record and playback on! One of the things I was always teased about when I would engineer a record or a demo, was having my chicken scratch all over the board on masking tape. For those who don't know, we do that to label what the tracks are underneath the faders. On the CL5, you don't need that because you can create LCD labels. Much better than what I can do with a Sharpie. Share
